I have gages that are number TP-01 through TP-99…I would like to change those gage numbers to something like TP-001 through TP-099. So that when I generate gage IS of TP-100 the correct order is maintained. IS there a way to do this without losing historical data?

I apologize for the delay on a response to you, yes there is a way to rename those tools but they have to be done one at a time.
You should be able to right click on the tools and there is an option there to “Rename Gage”.
