Calibration test point Order

Hi guys, GT Lite 8.4 user here.

Quick question. When setting up a template, how do I name the test points to keep them in the order I want them in. I like to make them so that the calibration process flows smoothly, not have the guys jump all over checking things.

I’ve tried simple numbers, like 1 to 10. Works ok until you hit 10, which it rearranges to be right after 1.

I’ve tried Alpha i.e. A-z, GT seems to ignore that method.

I’ve tried a combination, i.e. 1a 1b 1c 2a 2b 2c etc. I can’t seem to land on the right method so that GageTrak doesn’t reorganize my test points.

Have you tried naming the first 9 points with a 0 first? 01, 02, 03 etc? When naming our gages, we start with 001 after the gage type to keep order/allow future growth and that helps us. I have not tried that in the test points value yet.

I’ll give that a try if my current idea fails

Hello Dave,

I would recommend to name the Templates

Type Subtype Range Resolution

Example

Caliper Digital 0-6 inch .001

Caliper Digital 0-12 inch .001

Etc.

For naming Test Points or Gage ID’s

Because GAGEtrak is an Alphabetical Sort you will want to number things in the order that you want them to appear.

For example, with alphabetical sort.

1-10

would sort

1

10

2

3

9

so you will want to add leading zeros.

01

02

03

09

10

I hope this helps.

Thank you, This seems to be the early consensus amongst those in the know.

I appreciate everyone’s comments so far!!

I think I’ve got the exact magic formula, You guys were right about the leading zeros. I went with 001 002 003….010 011 012…..020 021 023 etc.
