Building workflow with GAGEtrak Pro

Hi, I’m new to GAGEtrak, about 8 months’, I have worked through several workflow methods that I developed by just getting in there and trying while discovering what works and what may not be the best option to pursue for that method. More specifically, I am looking for ways to streamline the Calibration and transfer activities.

During my short time using GAGEtrak, I have used V7 Pro, V8 Lite, and V8 Pro. I have the most insight with V8 Pro as I have taken the online training to get a better understanding on how to approach the methods I am looking to put into place as we grow the department.

My initial tasks were just to navigate the program and get a feel for how to get things done. Calibrations, setup of test points, transfer of gages are the most often items I get to do daily.

The information needed for a calibration and the traceable connection were some of the tasks I squeezed in between transferring gages and calibrating due gages.

I found it most helpful to try different views of the data to discover what works best and quick for my workflow.

I use the gage quick search and soon discovered that funneling the data to limit my data view was a good working pace, it allowed faster response to a search, and I use that to do partial information searching. I also use it to target certain information that will lead to something more specific. This has saved much time when pulling up records that are similar and to isolate a specific one. Along with this workflow, I have renamed items in the ID Field to help parse out sections of gages that both gives gage information and is accessible directly with few clicks.

I will post more at another time, I’m happy to share anything that will help someone new that may be looking for consistent workflow shortcuts.

I have discovered many in my short time using the software.

Hi Howard,

Welcome to the community, and thank you for taking the time to share this — it’s a great perspective, especially for newer users.

What you described is a very effective way to get comfortable with GAGEtrak: exploring different views, refining searches, and adapting the system to support your day-to-day workflow. Using Quick Search filters and intentional ID naming to group and isolate gages is a solid approach, and it’s helpful for others to hear how those small adjustments can save time during calibrations and transfers.

It’s also great to hear that you’ve worked across multiple versions and invested in the V8 Pro training as your department grows. That kind of hands-on experience often leads to the most practical workflow improvements.

We’d definitely encourage you to keep sharing as you continue refining your processes. Workflow shortcuts, data views, and real-world usage examples are especially valuable for users who are just getting started.

Thanks again for contributing — we’re looking forward to your future posts.
