Although GAGEtrak 7 is still widely used, it is considered a legacy application. This post outlines several common repair steps you can take if GAGEtrak 7 is not functioning as expected.
1. Repair Microsoft Access Runtime
-
Open the Control Panel on your computer and navigate to Programs and Features.
-
Use the search bar in the top-right corner to search for “Access.”
-
Locate Microsoft Access Runtime in the list.
- The version may vary (we support the 2010, 2013, and 2016 runtimes).
-
Right-click the installed runtime and select Change.
-
A new window will open—follow Microsoft’s prompts to run the repair.
-
When prompted to restart at the end, you may select No, as a restart is not required.
2. Repair Microsoft Access Database Engine
-
In the same Programs and Features window, continue using the search term “Access.”
-
Locate Microsoft Access Database Engine (most commonly 2010, though 2016 is also supported).
-
Right-click the Database Engine and select Repair.
-
A new window will appear showing a progress bar while the repair completes.
3. Compact and Repair the Database
If you are using an Access-based database (not a SQL Server database), this step can help resolve many GAGEtrak 7 issues.
-
Locate your GAGEtrak database file (a .accdb file) on your Windows system.
-
Double-click the file to open it in Microsoft Access.
-
When prompted, enter the database password.
- If you do not have the password, please contact support@cybermetrics.com with your company information to request it.
-
Once the database is open, select Database Tools from the top menu.
-
Click Compact and Repair Database (located in the upper-left corner).
4. Repair the GAGEtrak 7 Program File
-
Use the Windows Start Menu search and type “Repair GAGEtrak 7.”
-
Run the application.
-
When the process completes, you should see a confirmation message indicating that the program file has been successfully repaired.
